Development Force (DF);
An initiative to promote volunteerism

Development Force (DF) is a concept of volunteerism. This has emerged out of the experience while working for the development of deferent deprived groups in the field. Poor peoples in the rural areas are uncared for and Government, other service providing agencies are yet to reach them. They are not being given the attention they deserve. Poverty and social security is still seen as individual characteristics and not as the social situation.

While the government plays an important role in making constitutional and legislation procedure, evolving scheme and policies and providing resources, it has not been able to deliver services and programmes on its own. The most vital reason for this is the lack of information regarding provisions, rights and programmes are not reaching out to the targeted beneficiaries and the needy.

The concept of DF is to build up a group of volunteers from the rural areas, (teacher, social worker, employees, SHG leaders, PRI representatives and from every walk of life.) to share the information regarding the schemes, programmes, acts, policies etc they are entitled to. The DF has the following objectives:

To create an environment of self esteem To build up and strengthen Resource (Information) bank in village level To provide hand holding support to the needy persons. To provide information on socio-economic development To promote voluntarism

Five steps of DF Sending invitation of membership to individuals. Application for membership. Orientation to the volunteers on identification process, rights, concession, schemes available for disables and skill of voluntarism. Up dating the information level by sending news letter and circulars regularly. Collection of feed back and reports on the activities of volunteers in regular interval.

The volunteer will be provided orientation regarding schemes, identification of beneficiaries’, filling of formats etc related to available rights and benefits for the deprived. Time to time in regular intervals the data base will be up date and disseminated to the volunteers in the rural areas. So that, they can work as a RESOURCE CENTRE for their locality.

The DF volunteers will not lead the people but they will walk along with the people to empower them to assert their rights, and contribute to the society.

Volunteerism is not a quality; it is a culture - a personal commitment.
